Oct 26 Dinner: Steamed white asparagus

Well, I had to change vegetables right? And there was just such a promotion going on asparagus, and even though the smell is not that great afterwards, I just so love the taste.

Oct 26 Lunch: Artichoke...oh yes I still had one...:-)

Well... I had one cooked in the fridge, what can I say?

Too much tentation to resist...

Oct 16 Lunch: Squash and coconut soup

As is usually the problem when living alone and having a freezer completely full, you have to finish your left over quickly... So I had this again for lunch..

Oct 16 Dinner: Artichoke

It might seem strange to a few of you, but the desire of eating artichokes was one of the main reason I walk 15 minutes to a Delhaize supermarket to go shopping, which is a lot when you come back your backpack and hands full of fruits and vegetables...

Oct 15 Dinner: squash soup with coconut milk

As you may know this is another of my favourites.

I cooked the squash in a pressure cooker ( I would have so much prefer to be at home and cook it in a steamer....:-) but here you go), and later mix it with a can of coconut milk containing only coconut and water.

Oct 14 Dinner: Couscous with peas and carrots

Yes today was one of those lazy nights, when I just grabbed what is in the freezer and make something out of it.

And here it is some couscous mixed with some peas and carrots...

Not the most flavoured meal I know of, but it served its purpose. :-)

Oct 14 Lunch: Potluck salad

For lunch today, I mixed together all the leftover with some seeds. Hence I made a Chinese cabbage, beetroot, cherry tomatoes, potatoes, raisins, peanuts and sunflower salad.... And I love the taste!!!

It might seems strange but it turned out great.

Oct 14 Breakfast: Orange, pineapple, strawberry and banana smoothie

I mixed 3 freshly squeezed oranges with a banana, an 8th of a pineapple and 5/6 large strawberries to obtain a nice and well-balanced smoothie in which all flavours could be tasted.

Oct 12 Lunch: Artichoke

Here we go again... But what a delight for me!!!

Oct 12 Breakfast: Melon, Pear, orange and banana smoothie

Well today I had a very nice smoothie, which can even be better I think if only using half a banana.

I mixed 2 freshly squeezed oranges with half a melon, one large pear and one banana to obtain a smooth and tasty smoothie with a slight overflavour of banana.

Oct 11 Dinner: Radishes & Dal

Well, tonight I started with Radishes as an entrée followed by some Dal leftover... Yes I still have some :-)

Oct 11 Lunch: Artichoke!!!

Yeah.. That's right!! This is another of my big classic... I absolutely adore artichokes to the extent that I bought 3 on Friday from Brittany, my native region and the place I was last week, just to have the pleasure to eat some... :-)

I am such a lucky girl!! :-)

And look at this!!

Oct 11 Breakfast: Yellow grapefruit, pear, banana and raisins smoothie

Today I went for a strange mixture, and I was pleasantly surprised by the results... since depending on the swallow of that smoothie, you could taste more the grapefruit, the banana, the pear or something sweet... Slightly more difficult to taste the raisins...

With 2 yellow grapefruits, one large pear, a banana and a dozen of organic raisins, I got 1 glass and 2/3 of smoothie in the glass pictured below.

Oct 10 Dinner: Dal again!!!

What can I say??? I had an extremely lazy day today... I spent a long time on the phone catching up with friends, letting them know I had arrived in Brussels and organising when to see each other... So by the time it was time to have dinner, I was just to lazy to cook again... and I had plenty of dal leftover and no space in the freezer.... So... I enjoyed Dal again...

I also enjoyed some more of that still fresh pinapple...

Oct 10 Lunch: Avocado and dal

Well, I fancied some avocado today especially as I had one which I knew was just ripe to perfection. And since I was still hungry afterwards, I ate some of the left over from last night...

Oct 10 Breakfast: Pink Grapefruit Juice

Afer the traditional cup of hot water and lemon juice, I did not feel that hungry this morning, so I enjoyed a large glass of freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice.

Oct 9 Dinner: Home made dal again!!!

Well, I had a friend for dinner so I cooked the one meal, I know people can share and enjoy while I am detoxing a home made dal. Thanks God!!! As I am not sure what I could have cooked for her instead with the food and ingredients I currently have at home.

After the dal, we enjoy some fresh pinapple!!!

Oct 8 Dinner: Cherry tomatoes, chinese cabbage, potatoes salad

Another nice salad made of organic cherry tomatoes cut in half, boiled potatoes and cut cabbage.

And please tell me it does look good even though it might seem slightly unusual... :-)

Oct 8 Lunch: Beetroot and pumpkin & sunflower seeds salad

In the fridge are some recntly cooked beetroot, so what better that a small improvised salad with beetroot and seeds. In this case, sunflower and pumpkin seeds..

Oct 7 Dinner: Potatoes and cabbage salad

This time I am eating the leftover of my friends... But a tasty meal...as this is a nice salad

Oct 7 Lunch: Beetroot with steamed coliflower

The taste was good,,, but a very bad idea to ahve travel with this in a container not 100% hermetic... A few things need to be cleaned....

Oct 7 Breakfast: an apple

Yep that's it... What can i say it was a late breakfast... :-)

Tuesday, October 6, 2009

Oct 6 Dinner: well... well...

In all honesty I did not eat much for dinner. I had a banana for snack while travelling, an apple as well... and some pumpkin seeds with raisins

Oct 6 Lunch: Final left over

As I am travelling today, I am finishign the left over, so today lunch is made of radish and steamed coliflower and onions...

Oct 6 Breakfast:: orange, banana, apple, pear, pinapple and grape smoothies

Another nice smoothie to start the day...

Don't you think?

Monday, October 5, 2009

Oct 5 Lunch: Left over..

So today it is a mixture of radish, dal, and steamed vegetables

Oct 5 Breakfast: Orange, pink grapefruit, banana, pears, and dried abricots smoothie

Well.. Due to some clumsiness most of it was wasted yesterday... So I had to have another go at it... No regrets here...:-)

Sunday, October 4, 2009

Oct 4 Dinner: potatoes and green beans

A simple but tasty meal of potatoes and green beans and some olive oil to replace the butter....Difficult to deny one's own origins...

Some black grapes for dessert...

Oct 4 Lunch: some more steamed vegetables

You know what it is when you cooked too much at once... it tends to take a few days to finish up everything...:-)

Oct 4 Breakfast: Orange, pink grapefruit, pears, and dried abricots smoothie

Well... what can I say, a nice smoothie, even though the pears flavour was very subtile and the dried abricots pretty absent...

Saturday, October 3, 2009

Oct 3 Dinner: Home made dal

One of my favourites meals... Made of green lentils, red pepper, aubergines and courgettes with some cumin as well... Just perfect!!

In addition once made, this conserves its great savour whether it is eaten hot or cold... Nice, no?

Oct 3 Lunch: Steamed carrots, onions and coliflower

Well, another meal easy to prepare and so tasty... as steamed cooked :-)

For more info on this, read this other post of mine.

Oct 2 Dinner: couscous with broccoli, coliflower and carrots

Simple last minute meal made of couscous mixed with broccoli, coliflower and carrots. I said last minute as the vegetables were frozen, hence quickly cooked and the couscous takes onl y 5-10minutes as well to be ready.

Oct 2 Lunch: Grilled courgettes with cashew nuts

In a pan, I just grilled some fresh, washed and cuts courgettes with some cashew nuts in some olive oil to enjoy the plate that can be seen on the photo below.

Oct 2 Breakfast: just a pear...

I was not that hungry at breakfast so after a cup of lemon juice and hot water I only ate a fresh pear.

When got hungry later on I had a snack of unsalted ungrilled and completely natural cashew nuts...

Oct 1 Dinner: Melon and Artichoke

This is clearly the end of the season for the melons. The taste was not as good as it could have been. A bit watery as well was that French melon.

Thanks God, this was followed by a phenomenal, yummy BUT small artichoke, in my special homemade detox vinaigrette.

Oct 1 Lunch: Artichokes

I have always been a fan of artichokes, and since I am currently in Brittany, one of the French regions producing artichokes, I just could not resist the attraction :-)

So guess what I had for lunch and dinner..... ARTICHOKES.

I used a steam cooker to cook the artichokes and did eat the two I had for lunch ( of course they were small ones;-)) with a home-made special detox vinaigrette, made of olive oil and lemon juice. Yummy!!!! is the only word that can describe that lunch.

As for dessert, some fresh raspberries and strawberries.

Well..... well... well

I just realised that even though I kept on detoxing every six months (with the exception of autumn 2008) I stopped writing down what I ate, and thought I will have another go at this, to share some simple meals and also maybe one day to see people commenting on this blog and adding their own suggestions of simple meal that would fit with my idea of detoxing.
